4. LSU Win Letdown Spot

Alabama isn’t usually one to fall into the dreaded letdown spot but what if this year is different. Alabama went into Baton Rouge to take on the No. 3 LSU Tigers in a game that not only decided the SEC West but also held huge national implications.

They came out of the game with a dominant 29-0 win over the LSU Tigers and a team with this much youth on the field could feel a bit high about themselves going into the matchup. If there was ever a matchup that these players were going to feel unmotivated to go play in it would be this one.

They did what they wanted to do against LSU, they’re coming back home with that sweet, sweet taste of victory, and they are going up against a Mississippi State team that has struggled a lot at times this season. It’s possible that they just overlook the strengths that Mississippi State has and sleepwalk themselves to their first loss of the 2018 season.

If they don’t overlook Mississippi State, maybe they are still hurting from last season. LSU’s defense made Alabama work hard for all 29 of those points with their aggressive defensive unit and LSU ran the ball quite a bit last week. Mississippi State’s ground-heavy offense and aggressive defense could the straw that breaks the camel’s back and Alabama finds themselves unable to stop the Bulldog offense while also being unable to handle the defense. Body-blow theory does exist and it could very well take place this weekend.
