2. The Defense

So, if Nick Fitzgerald needs a few tries to make something happen then he can trust on a strong defensive unit to help him out with that. The Bulldog Defense is giving up 278.7 yards per game which is the sixth least total yards per game nationally behind Michigan, Miami (FL), Clemson, UAB, and Cincinnati.

Alabama’s strength this season is the pass and Mississippi State should have success in hindering Tua. The Bulldog pass defense is the stingiest in the nation when it comes to touchdown passes with only four touchdown passes allowed in their nine games. If the Bulldogs want to win this matchup, they need to have answers for Tua and this talented receiving corps.

The run defense faces a tough test this week with stud Alabama back Damien Harris managing things on the ground. Luckily for the Dogs, they are giving up a mere 111 yards to opposing backs and have allowed only five touchdowns on the ground all season long. Luckily for Mississippi State, second string back Najee Harris is expected to be out this week and if they can keep the ball on the ground then they stand their best chances of winning.
