2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projected first round after Week 11
By Phil Poling
Are you familiar with EA Sports’ Madden NFL video game franchise? Raiders’ head coach Jon Gruden is managing Oakland like many fans of the game do – trading away all the team’s current assets for future draft picks.
Star defensive end Khalil Mack? Traded to Chicago for a 2019 first round pick (and a number of other future picks). No. 1 wide receiver Amari Cooper? Traded to Dallas for a 2019 first round pick. It’s obvious they’re in rebuild-mode, and adding LSU linebacker Devin White is a perfect place to start defensively,
White’s presence was felt in the Tigers’ loss to Alabama, as he missed the entire first half because of a targeting penalty the previous week. Playing in the second half wasn’t enough to put the Tigers over the hump, though, as their offense struggled to move the ball against the Crimson Tide.
During his time at LSU, White’s been a tackling machine, leading not only the Tigers but the entire SEC in the category in 2017 with 133. He’s the first LSU player to do so since tackling became an official stat in the mid-1980’s. Adding a player like White would be a piece Gruden and Co. could build around for years to come.
