College Football 2018: 3 reasons to be excited about Week 12
1. Cincinnati at Central Florida
The Bearcats head to Orlando, FL to Face the Central Florida Knights at 8 p.m. eastern on ABC. The College GameDay crew will be present and the game is the primetime showcase game for Week 12. UCF is two regular season wins away from back-to-back undefeated regular seasons while the Bearcats, led by coach Luke Fickell, are having a renaissance season.
Cincinnati holds a 9-1 record and are sitting at 29th overall per the S&P+. The Knights are 9-0 and 7th per the S&P+. Josh Heupel has picked up where Scott Frost left off down at UCF with quarterback McKenzie Milton throwing for over 2300 yards and 21 touchdowns while averaging 9.1 yards per passing attempt.
The Bearcats are led by running back Michael Warren II who has ran for over 1,000 yards with 17 touchdowns in 2018. UCF has a strong lead offensively and in the kicking game while Cincinnati has the better defense. The Bearcats’ lone loss came to the Temple Owls in a 24-17 ballgame after quarterback Desmond Ridder struggled against the Temple defense. Riddle averaged a lowly three yards per passing attempt with an interception in the loss.
Just seeing College GameDay on campus at UCF shows how far the Knights have come over the years. As an alumnus, UCF played downtown in the Citrus Bowl when I was a student going to watch Golden Knights (pre-name change) games in an empty stadium. The UCF students and fans need to enjoy this ride and pack Spectrum Stadium on Saturday night.
