Virginia Tech Football: 3 bold predictions for Miami matchup in Week 12
1. Virginia Tech gets to .500
In the end, the premise of these bold predictions is that the Virginia Tech Hokies put Miami’s 2018 season to sleep, cue “Enter Sandman.” Justin Fuente doesn’t have the Hokies quite where fans would like them in year three but this rollercoaster of a year will be capped off nicely if Fuente’s squad can come up with a win over Miami before heading into their rivalry week game against the Virginia Cavaliers.
Virginia Tech is an S&P+ underdog per overall ranking, and per most of the Vegas oddsmakers. However, people aren’t looking at the bigger picture which is that Miami is a complete mess right now with Mark Richt having to defend his ability to call plays, and his team’s current chemistry. The newspapers, message boards and I’m sure fly over banners will tell the story of a Miami program desperate for consistency.
Virginia Tech fans aren’t happy, but the Hokies have had bad seasons before having great seasons in the past. You can look back to 1997, 2003 and 2015 to name a few where talent was on-campus it just needed time to get going. The Hokies are going to book end their season with wins over Florida teams and a rival as they started 2018 beating up on Willie Taggart’s Seminoles and can end with wins over Miami and Virginia. If Fuente loses to Miami and the Cavaliers, his seat may be getting warm.
Prediction: Virginia Tech by 2
