3. Houston may have crushed Tulane’s bowl hopes

Tulane, after falling to 5-6 (4-3), remains one win shy of bowl eligibility in 2018. The Green Wave have failed to reach the postseason in 13 of the past 14 seasons.

The Green Wave entered Thursday night’s contest on a three-game winning streak and was riding high after a resounding 41-15 win over South Florida, a previously ranked opponent from earlier in the season.

Running back Darius Bradwell led the way for Tulane, rushing 14 times for 89 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Justin McMillan was 10-of-20 for 147 yards and two interceptions.

Houston junior running back Patrick Carr had 119 rushing yards and averaged 7.7 yards per attempt, including two touchdowns.

Tulane will head home for its regular season finale against Navy.  Last season, the Green Wave came up within inches of defeating SMU in the final game in a win that would have resulted in bowl eligibility. Green Wave players and fans alike can certainly appreciate what’s on the line now for next week’s game.
