3. The play of Notre Dame secondary

Jalen Elliot has been one of the leaders in the secondary all year for the Notre Dame defense. Elliot leads the Irish defense in interceptions with three, to go with six pass break-ups, a forced fumble, and 54 total tackles for the 2018 season. Two of Elliot’s interceptions came against Ball State and helped Notre Dame avoid the upset at the hands of the lowly Cardinals in South Bend.

Julian Love has also played a crucial role in the Notre Dame secondary for most of the 2018 season. Love only has one interception on the season, but has 14 pass breakups, 44 total tackles and three fumble recoveries, including a recovery for a touchdown. There is no question Love is the big play monster of this secondary and it’s a role he plays very well.

This will be the best secondary Syracuse has faced this (Yes, even including Clemson). Eric Dungey will have his work cut out for him, but the Irish secondary will likely be too much.
