1. Rose Bowl vs. Pac-12 (Jan. 1)

A trip to Pasadena and the “Granddaddy of them All” seems the most likely of scenarios for the Buckeyes. The least amount of chaos needs to take place for the Buckeyes to smell roses.

The first scenario would involve the Buckeyes beating the Wolverines and then Northwestern to earn the Big Ten championship. However they fall short of getting into the playoff. As winner of the Big Ten, the Buckeyes head to the Rose Bowl.

Another scenario that seems likely is Michigan beating Ohio State for the first time since 2011. Michigan goes on to beat Northwestern for the Big Ten title and heads to the playoff. The Rose Bowl would pick the next best team from the Big Ten and it would clearly be the Buckeyes with two losses.

Ohio State’s likely opponent would be Washington State. It would be fun to watch Mike Leach’s Cougars go up against Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes. Leach always makes things interesting and the lead up to the game would be fun to watch.

The Buckeyes are 7-7 all-time in the Rose Bowl. Their last appearance was 2010, a 26-17 victory over Oregon. While Buckeye fans were hoping for another playoff appearance this season, the Rose Bowl is always a nice consolation for a solid season.
