1. Citrus Bowl vs. SEC (Jan. 1st)

The likely of all scenarios is the Citrus Bowl and a trip to Orlando. Penn State fans would hope Orlando would be more sunny and warm than their last trip there nearly 10 years ago.

In this scenario, again Michigan heads to the playoff and Ohio State to the Rose Bowl. Northwestern has picked up a fifth loss and maybe even another in the regular season. They would likely end up somewhere in the mid-tier bowls such as the Holiday Bowl. That leaves the Citrus for Penn State.

How’s this for a bowl matchup? Penn State faces Mississippi State in the Citrus Bowl. Bulldog head coach Joe Moorhead faces his old team from the last two seasons. The storylines leading up to the game would write themselves. While Mississippi State’s offense is not as good as Penn State’s from the last two seasons, the match-up would still be an intriguing one. Fans would be sure to tune into the game.

Penn State all-time is 2-3 in the Citrus Bowl with their last appearance in 2010. It was then known as the Capital One Bowl. As mentioned before, the game was marred by less than ideal conditions with the field turning into a mud pit. The Nittany Lions would go on to beat LSU.
