4. Ian Book’s health

It didn’t seem to be a problem last weekend against Florida State that Ian Book didn’t play but this week’s enemy is a much different beast. When Ian Book stepped in for the Fighting Irish against Vanderbilt in Week 3 and had the offense humming by Week 4.

Ian Book and Brandon Wimbush have battled for this starting job for the past season and a half and it seems that Brian Kelly has finally found his guy in the former. The offense is more open with Book on the field due to his ability to throw accurate passes and he is one of the more poised quarterbacks in the face of danger in all of college football.

Wimbush is very athletic in his own right and can make big things happen with his legs. The problem with him, though, is his career 50 percent completion rating.

Book may not be the most accurate downfield passer, but he can make most of the throws that he needs to make to win football games. If Book takes one hard hit to the ribs this weekend then the Irish could find themselves in a bit of a pickle against this surprisingly well rounded Syracuse Orange team.

If Book goes down, the game itself changes drastically.
