3. De facto Super Bowl for Syracuse

Notre Dame has everything to lose in this game. They don’t have a conference championship game and many people are already debating whether or not they could beat much-improved Michigan in a rematch and one loss could very well result in them missing out on the College Football Playoff.

Syracuse, on the other hand, has absolutely nothing to lose in a game that is one of the biggest they’ve played in a long time. If they lose this weekend then they don’t miss out on a CFP appearance because they are already at two losses, their bowl hopes don’t end because they are at eight wins, they could lose this game and still reach a ten win season, this game ultimately doesn’t matter for their season’s trajectory.

Dino Babers might pull out all the stops in this game and do whatever it takes to pull out the dub in the end. Syracuse might throw in a lot of trick plays, go for two, surprise onside kicks, the possibilities are endless. It doesn’t get much bigger than this for Syracuse this season and if they want to show the world that they belong amongst the best in the nation, they will leave nothing in Yankee Stadium.

It’s also worth noting that since the start of the 2017 season, the Orange have lost ten total times with seven of the ten coming on nine points or less. Syracuse plays most everybody they play close and that shouldn’t change against Notre Dame.
