When Bill Snyder returned to the sidelines at Kansas State in 2008 after two years in retirement, he restored a level of consistency that he instilled during his first stint as the head coach in Manhattan. After a couple of seasons to right the ship, Snyder’s teams have been to the postseason every year since 2010.

That trend is in major danger of changing in 2018, as the Wildcats have struggled to play .500 football this year. Single-score losses to Texas, Baylor, and TCU show that Kansas State has still been competitive, and could theoretically be 7-3 just as easily as they are 4-6. But a defense that gives away 4.6 more points per game than their offense puts on the scoreboard was always going to have issues with pulling out close wins.

Now sitting at 4-6, Kansas State has to win both of their upcoming games to reach a bowl game in 2018. They face off against Texas Tech, another team seeking bowl eligibility, in Week 12. Then, over Thanksgiving weekend, the Wildcats have to go to Ames and knock off a ranked Iowa State team to reach the postseason.
