Since the days when Frank Beamer was patrolling the sidelines in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech has been a mainstay of the postseason. Every year since 1993, the Hokies have reached a bowl game. The streak was in jeopardy several times near the end of Beamer’s tenure, with the Hokies needing wins on the final weekend of the regular season three times between 2012 and 2015 to keep the meter running.

This year, though, the margin of error got even tighter for Justin Fuente‘s team if they want to go bowling for a 26th straight season. With their game against East Carolina canceled by Hurricane Florence back in September, the Hokies missed out on a chance to earn a relatively easy victory that would have pushed the closer to bowl eligibility and left them needing only one win over the final two weeks.

With two opportunities left, though, the Hokies have to win both games. They take on Miami and Virginia at home, two games that will either keep Beamer’s streak alive another year or doom Virginia Tech to an early offseason.
