College Football Playoff Rankings 2018: Top 25 projections for Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Mississippi State gave Arkansas no chance at all when they welcomed the Razorbacks to Starkville on Saturday. Joe Moorhead’s Bulldogs crushed their visitors 52-6, shaking off a slow start to score 35 unanswered points in the second half to run away with the huge victory.
Nick Fitzgerald threw for just 127 yards in the victory, but he didn’t have to do too much with his arm. As it was, Fitzgerald still threw for four touchdowns on 9-of-14 passing, and he added another 85 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Keytaon Thompson went into the game as well, completing three of his four attempts for 61 yards and a score. Aeris Williams posted 104 rushing yards to lead the way for the backfield.
Now the Egg Bowl awaits for the Bulldogs. Last year, Fitzgerald was injured in the game and Mississippi State collapsed as a result. More experienced and deeper in their first year under Moorhead, the Bulldogs will look to maintain their spot in the College Football Playoff Top 25 in Oxford against the rival Rebels and avoid any significant injuries heading into the postseason.
