College Football Playoff Rankings 2018: Top 25 projections for Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Not all games against FCS competition are created equal, and Colgate entered their showdown against Army at Michie Stadium on Saturday as one of just three undefeated teams remaining at the lower level of Division I football. The Raiders, ranked No. 8 in the FCS STATS Top 25, were a solid outfit that could not be overlooked.
That makes Army’s 28-14 win over the Raiders all the more impressive in context. The Black Knights utilized their run-heavy offense to overpower Colgate, as they pounded the rock repeatedly to the tune of 261 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. The Army defense gave up 166 rushing yards and a touchdown in turn to Colgate back James Holland, but they still emerged with their ninth win of the season.
With Cincinnati and Boston College due to drop out of the College Football Playoff Top 25 this week, the selection committee will likely follow the pattern they started last week by rewarding some smaller schools with the last few spots in the rankings. Army will be the beneficiary of the policy this week as they take the last spot above the cut line.
