College Football Playoff Rankings 2018: Top 25 projections for Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
It was one of the crazier finishes in Week 12, as Utah State looked like they had lost on the final play of the game in Fort Collins. Colorado State quarterback Collin Hill launched a pass downfield as time ran out, and Preston Williams hauled in the pass to put the Rams up 30-29 at the whistle. But it turned out Williams illegally touched the ball after stepping out of bounds on the play, and the touchdown was overturned.
The call allowed Utah State to escape with a 29-24 victory over the Rams for their 10th win of the 2018 campaign. Matt Wells saw his team give away more than 500 yards of offense while barely managing 300 yards of their own, but they still prevailed on the road to stay in the College Football Playoff Top 25 this week.
On Thanksgiving weekend, the Aggies head to Boise to take on the Broncos. The winner of the game will earn the MWC Mountain crown this season and represent the division in the Mountain West championship game, while the loser will topple out of the College Football Playoff rankings and relegated to prepare for whatever bowl game they manage to land.
