College Football Playoff Projections 2018: Week 13
3. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
In Week 12, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosted the No. 12 Syracuse Orange and absolutely dominated the game. Syracuse scored their only points at the very end of the regulation on a short, 28 yard field goal, which came off as a sad attempt to avoid a shutout.
Prior to this past week, many(including myself) were still skeptical about Notre Dame as a legitimate undefeated team, given their some of their closer (and questionable) games earlier this season. The Irish beat Ball State by eight points, Vanderbilt by five points, and Pitt by five as well. Additionally, all three of these games were played in South Bend.
But after the incredible, all-around performance by Notre Dame this week against one of the better teams in college football, many doubts have been erased.
The Irish play their final game of the year against the USC Trojans in sunny Southern California. The Trojans will be coming off a loss against rival, UCLA. This should be a smooth matchup for Notre Dame since USC has struggled significantly in the second half of the season. But, as always, anything can happen in college football.
