College Football Playoff contenders compared to Thanksgiving foods

6. Egg Nog — Oklahoma Sooners

It’s thick, creamy, and sometimes full of surprises. It could turn out to be low-fat egg nog, if you’re unlucky. Perhaps your Uncle Ted slipped some bourbon into yours. Maybe it has some paprika sprinkled on top, or it’s even been cut with milk. Regardless, egg nog is somehow a favorite of the cold winter months.

Here come the Sooners.

You can rely on a superb quarterbacking performance from a future Oakland A’s baseball player in Kyler Murray, but the Sooners’ defense is suspect. In the last two wins, they’ve given up 47 and 40 points to teams in the bottom half of the Big 12, Oklahoma State and Kansas, respectively. In other words, consistent crimson ‘n cream on offense might not be enough behind a suspect defensive secondary.

7. Cranberry Relish — Washington State Cougars

Sweet, tart, not always in a normal bowl, and sometimes mistaken for its cousin, cranberry sauce, the traditional cranberry relish has its doubters. If you have a friend or relative who knows what they’re doing, this delectable treat can be a home-run performance. The Cougars are enjoying rarefied air in the Pac-12 right now, sitting with just one loss and gearing up for a huge Apple Cup game against the Washington Huskies. What tricks will head coach Mike Leach have prepared?
