College Football Playoff contenders compared to Thanksgiving foods
By John Scimeca
8. Pumpkin Pie — Georgia Bulldogs
Pie is a popular dish with many redeeming qualities to top off the Thanksgiving feast. A homemade pumpkin pie brings a lot of strengths to the table like the crispy crust, the dichotomy of texture, and the perfectly placed pile of whipped cream on top. These Georgia Bulldogs can come at you in a lot of ways. They’re a one-loss team with an experienced quarterback in Jake Fromm and a top-notch defense only giving up 16.8 points per game. Basically, the perfect dessert that few can argue against.
9. Post-Meal Hangover — Alabama Crimson Tide
No matter how much you eat or imbibe, you know it’s coming for you. Your tummy feels the tightness and the discomfort. You panic. You swear off eating and drinking forever. You plead and beg. Slowly, though, and inexorably, the post-Thanksgiving hangover creeps up on you. It could be the overwhelming expanse that is now your midsection, bursting out of your dress pants. It could be waking up the following morning feeling like a freight train is ramming the back of your head.
Either way, too much food and drink catches up to us all on Thanksgiving night or Black Friday morning. The Crimson Tide, no matter how much you root against them, will have their moment in the College Football Playoff. Even if they stumble. Even if they suffer injuries. Even if they fail to win their division. They’ll be there in the CFP, just like your post-meal Thanksgiving doldrums.
