1. Alabama Crimson Tide

It would have to take a miracle for Clemson to not earn a spot in the playoff, even if they lose to Pitt. But no matter what happens in the SEC Championship game, Alabama will definitely be part of the 2018 College Football Playoff.

In 2017, Alabama lost to Auburn in the Iron Bowl and sat at home while the SEC Championship Game was played. Despite all of this, the Crimson Tide was still allotted the No. 4 seed in the 2017 College Football Playoff. This decision by the committee brought an unprecedented level of criticism. Regardless, Alabama proved to everyone that they were more than deserving of the spot, by dominating Clemson, and beating Georgia in the championship game.

Alabama’s playoff performance in 2017 bought the committee’s confidence to continue to include them year after year. Therefore, the upcoming game against Georgia will simply decide the seed to which Alabama is assigned.
