After the Sooners huge win against West Virginia secured their rematch against Texas in the Big 12 title game, there were some media members saying he had passed Tua Tagovailoa on the Heisman watch list.

I thought they were crazy for it, because Murray has been excellent but he has to be with the 111th ranked defense in the nation taking the field after he leads the Sooners to a touchdown.

This isn’t throwing any shade at Murray, but when a defense is consistently getting gashed and has given up 40 or more in four straight games (including Kansas!), you can’t simply state that he is the best player in the country.

Murray took care of business against West Virginia, throwing for 364 yards and three touchdowns while running for one as well. His ability to run the ball is electrifying, and he has 853 yards on the ground with 11 rushing touchdowns.

Kyler makes a strong case to be considered number one but my money is still on Tua being the best in the country.
