Group of Five Power Rankings, Week 14: Championship week hierarchy
By Zach Bigalke
Buffalo finished off the regular season with a blowout at a Bowling Green team that went 3-9 in 2018, taking down the Falcons 44-14 thanks to 332 rushing yards and four touchdowns from the Bulls backfield. Tyree Jackson added 151 yards with a touchdown and an interception on 12-of-20 passing. And the Buffalo defense held Bowling Green to just 205 total yards of offense.

What a difference a week can make. Had Buffalo put in a similar performance against another division rival, Ohio, they would potentially be in the driver’s seat to swoop in and steal the Group of Five spot in a New Year’s Six bowl game if UCF loses to Memphis. Instead, now they are left to hope that both the Knights and the Mountaineers lose, and that the Mountain West championship game finishes in the most lackluster performance possible.
The Bulls must also take down Northern Illinois in Detroit on Friday night in the MAC championship game. Though they already have 10 wins this season for the first time in school history, only a MAC title will keep the Bulls’ longshot dreams alive through the rest of championship weekend.
