Maybe the prized-possession of Texas’ 2019 recruiting class, Oak Ridge High School’s Tyler Johnson gives the Longhorns a player they can build around on the offensive line.

Conroe, Texas’s Johnson and former-Longhorn Connor Williams have similar body types, each standing 6-foot-5. Johnson, however, is a bit heavier (308 pounds) than Williams was as a recruit (275 pounds). Of course, those could just be numbers someone punched into each player’s bio, though, and once Johnson arrives in Austin and gets on a Division-I workout routine, things could drastically change.

Regardless, Johnson was heavily recruited, particularly from Big 12 schools. Seven of the conference’s 10 members offered him, including Baylor, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Texas Tech. He’s collected a total of 22 scholarship offers.

Johnson is the No. 36 ranked recruit by 247Sports, No. 16 by ESPN and No. 78 by Rivals. He verbally committed to the Longhorns on May 5.
