Friday night

Buffalo vs. Northern Illinois, 7:00 p.m. EST, ESPN2

Northern Illinois is better than its record indicates, and led by one of the best defenses in the country. Buffalo, meanwhile, is one of the top G5 teams, and can score on anyone with Tyree Jackson and Anthony Johnson. This should be an awesome battle between an elite offense and an elite defense.

One sentence sell: It’ll probably be more entertaining than the Pac-12 championship game.

Utah vs. Washington, 8:00 p.m. EST, FOX

This is the least important of all the power five championships because neither team is making the playoff, but it could still be good to watch. Both teams have awesome defenses, and both are playing for a Rose Bowl berth, where Washington hasn’t been since 2001, and where Utah has never been. That’s a big deal for those programs, and they’ll be more than willing to show up for this one.

One sentence sell: Championship football is championship football.
