No. 2: Kyler Murray is the best player in the country

Who in college football is more electrifying than Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray? For someone who stands only 5-foot-11, he is head-and-shoulders above his competitors and should be the Heisman Trophy front-runner with a couple games remaining on the day.

Early during Saturday’s broadcast, the game’s commentators claimed, “about 10 percent of the Heisman voters had already submitted their ballots.” With a handful of conference championships to be played, that is an absurd statement. However, if they cast their votes for Murray, I’m fine with it.

After starting 4-of-9 against the Longhorns on their first two possessions – both of which ended in field goals – Murray went on a tear, throwing only four incompletions the rest of the game. He finished 25-of-34 for 379 yards and three touchdowns, and added 39 yards on the ground.

Could the Sooners have back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners at quarterback? With Murray’s incredible 2018 campaign, in which he racked up over 4,500 total yards and 48 touchdowns, it’d be a mistake if the award went to somebody else – especially someone who didn’t have to battle late in any games because his defense helped carry them.
