No. 1: Oklahoma deserves to be CFP-bound

The Oklahoma Sooners took care of business in the Big 12 Championship, avenging their only loss of the season against Texas in the biggest game of the season. They won their fourth consecutive Big 12 Championship, but aren’t done battling this season just yet.

After losing Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield to the NFL following last season, quarterback Kyler Murray slid into the vacant role and improved the Sooners’ offensive attack – which many believed wasn’t possible.

Everyone knows it’s hard to beat the same team twice in one season, but the Longhorns were no push-over – they fought hard. But Oklahoma made all the big plays when it mattered most.

Only scoring two field goals in the first quarter? No worries, the OU defense forced the Longhorns into a couple punts. Fumbling in the redzone after a momentum-swinging gain? Again, no worries – the OU defense forced a safety. People love to claim the Big 12 doesn’t play defense; that’s simply not the case. The offenses are just so superior in the Big 12 that it’s game-changing stops in key moments that win games, and the Sooners have proved they’re capable of getting them.

Who are you going to put in the College Football Playoff ahead of the Sooners? An Ohio State team that got molly-whopped by Purdue? Surely not Michigan, right? Georgia if they beat Alabama, possibly, but don’t expect that to come to fruition. The Oklahoma Sooners deserve to continue their 2018 football season, and all signs are pointing to it extending into the CFP.
