2. Houston quarterback Clayton Tune

Sure, the game would’ve been more fun if we could watch the awesome passing of D’Eriq King but he injured his knee against Tulane. His replacement is freshman Clayton Tune.

Tune is a 6-foot-3, former three-star prospect out of Texas. He has been plagued by an extremely low, 44.7 percent, completion percentage while throwing seven touchdowns and only two interceptions and he’s a pro-style quarterback so the dynamic running of King will not even remotely be duplicated.

Even so, it will be interesting to see the young quarterback slinging the football. Applewhite will have to tinker with his play-calling knowing Tune isn’t likely or skilled enough to run. He’ll still have highly capable receivers in Marquez Stevenson, Keith Corbin and Courtney Lark who have hauled in over 2,000 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns as a trio.

Tune has a few week to get things in order to improve his completion percentage which will raise his yards per attempt. The Cougars offensive staff has a few weeks to get their scheme and game plan together to get more out of running back Patrick Carr with King sidelined.
