3. Trace McSorley‘s last game

You would have to be living under a rock to not know what Trace McSorley has meant to the Penn State program. The Citrus Bowl will mark the last time McSorley suits up in the blue and white.

If you do not know McSorley’s story, he was originally recruited as a safety out of high school. James Franklin was one of the few coaches that felt the undersized player out of Ashburn, Virginia could play quarterback. At first McSorley committed to play for Franklin at Vanderbilt but followed him to Penn State when the coach left Nashville for State College.

McSorley will leave Penn State with many of school records, seven in total. He now has the most wins out of any quarterback in Penn State history. He was instrumental in Penn State’s surprising run to the 2016 Big Ten championship along with last year’s Fiesta Bowl championship season.

This season did not pan out as well as many Lion faithful had hoped for Trace as he was on a lot of pre-season Heisman and other season award watch lists. Nevertheless, he can notch one more victory for his career and with it bring the Lions three straight 10 plus win seasons. The feat has not been accomplished in Happy Valley since 1980-82, which included the school’s first national championship. McSorley will be remembered for a long time by Penn State fans.
