Tagovialoa had a phenomenal season for the Crimson Tide. Without playing for most of the fourth quarter’s this season he still put up excellent numbers. Fighting off injuries and struggling in the SEC Championship game didn’t do enough to hurt Tua’s chances, and the right person took home the trophy.

He finished the year with an absurd stat line of 37 touchdown passes, four interceptions (two came against Georgia in the SEC title game), and 3,353 yards passing.

Tua’s detractors will look at Alabama’s dominance and level of talent on both sides of the ball which showed Alabama was never really in any trouble to lose for much of the regular season, but if you include Oklahoma’s porous defense would Murray have been able to put up the numbers he did?

Tua will be hungrier than ever to win the trophy next season in what was a mildly surprising result, and with Nick Saban behind him we can only imagine how explosive the Alabama offense will be next year.
