Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa and Dwayne Haskins are headed to New York City. Here’s why Oklahoma football‘s star quarterback deserves the Heisman Trophy.

At this point, everyone seems to be set that this is Tua Tagovailoa’s award to lose. Everyone is looking at the fact that the Alabama QB barely played in the fourth quarter this season. His team is undefeated and seems to be the undisputed number one team in the nation. However, how much truth is there to that? Has Dwayne Haskins from Ohio State earned this award? What about Kyler Murray?

I don’t know about Haskins, who has been impressive but not really Heisman worthy in my opinion, but Kyler Murray has been stellar. Here’s why he deserves to take home the trophy.

3. A lack of defense to back him up.

Let’s start here. Murray doesn’t have the same support that Tagovailoa does. Yes, he has the offensive support. There are weapons around him that make him the quarterback that he is. However, the argument could be made that he has made quite a bit of his living through his ability to scramble around and make play after play.

My point about support focuses on one thing, a lack of defense. While he has done his duty on the offensive side of the ball his defense hasn’t backed him up.

Murray was also not to blame for any of the team’s struggles this season. He has been the backbone of this team and has had to bail out the other half more than once. For that, in my opinion, he deserves the Heisman Trophy. He did a lot of what he did without the support of a team like what Tua has at Alabama or even what Haskins has at Ohio State.
