31. Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii vs. Louisiana Tech (Dec. 22)
Hawaii gets one more game on their home field, as they earned bowl eligibility and invoked the clause that allows them to play at home in the SoFi Hawaii Bowl. The Rainbow Warriors are playing at Aloha Stadium for the second time in three years, as Nick Rolovich continues to lay the foundation for a resurgence on the island.
Their opponent is a Louisiana Tech squad that lost three of their last four games to back into the postseason. As a result, Skip Holtz’s Bulldogs fell from C-USA West contention to a three-way tie for third in the division.
The Bulldogs boast a defensive front that ranks 10th nationally in sacks and 16th in total tackles for loss. They will be taking on a Rainbow Warriors side that allows nearly three sacks per game and sits 111th in that category. Cole McDonald will need his offensive line to give him time to find open receivers like John Ursua, or else Jaylon Ferguson will add to his FBS-leading sack total.
Usually this game is a staple of Christmas Eve, but it has been pushed up a few days in the calendar this year. Between the matchup and the unusual schedule date, there is only so much interest that this game will drum up among casual fans.
