. WR. Ole Miss. AJ Brown. 17. player. 45

With the departure of Demaryius Thomas, the Broncos do not have many assets for Case Keenum to pass to. This past off-season the Broncos signed Keenum for a 2-year $36 million deal. In his first year, he has utilized Emmanuel Sanders quite a bit, but that’s about all he has. And despite having talented young running backs like Philip Lindsey, Devontae Booker, and Royce Freeman,  the overall offensive efficiency is lacking.

The addition of AJ Brown from Ole Miss will give Keenum another weapon to pass to in his contract year. The Broncos will essentially utilize Brown to assess whether Keenum is worth re-signing or they should look elsewhere to find a franchise quarterback. Some may suggest that the Broncos should look to the draft to find a replacement for Keenum. But let’s not forget, he did take the Vikings to the playoff a year ago.

A top-flight wide receiver isn’t the luxury some would make it out to be. Amari Cooper’s surge with the Dallas Cowboys is proof enough that a playmaker on the outside can jumpstart a mediocre offense overnight. That could be AJ Brown for Denver.
