. QB. Oregon. Justin Herbert. 8. player. 52

If you told me a few weeks ago that the Jaguars would even be considering taking a quarterback in the first few rounds of this draft, I would have told you that you were crazy. But, in the midst of the Jacksonville Jaguar’s downfall, and Black Bortles at the center of it, I can’t see the Jaguars going any direction other than drafting a quarterback.

Last year, the Jaguars nearly made it to the AFC Championship Game by shear defense and a strong running game. Well… their defense is relatively the same, and Leonard Fournette is still leading the backfield, but the Jags are dead last in the AFC South. Something’s got to give. Bortles has been benched…but something more is needed.

Assuming Drew Lock is drafted by the Giants, Justin Herbert is the next best option. Playing at Oregon, he has been asked to do a lot for a college quarterback. The Pac-12 defenses are good, and the Oregon offensive line is not. Herbert stands tall at 6-foot-6 and throws an NFL quality ball. Additionally, he has the luxury(and practice) of throwing to tall receivers. This will translate well to the NFL so long as he doesn’t rely upon simply throwing the ball up and hoping for the best.
