Utah Football: 3 reasons 4-star QB Jayden Daniels will pick Utes

3. Familiarity
Even for Division-I athletes, being away from home can be an adjustment that’s not easy to deal with. Pile on school and football, and one can grow tired of any situation quickly. That’s why Utah football is a perfect landing spot for Daniels. Although it’s not Cal or UCLA, the Utes have a unique bargaining chip for Daniels: a high school teammate.
Darren Jones, a 6-foot-8 wide receiver that attended Cajon High with Daniels, is committed to the Utes. He turned down offers from Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, and Oregon, and could reunite with his high school quarterback under Kyle Whittingham.
Currently, Jones is Utah’s only four-star commitment, but the addition of Daniels would add a 1-2 punch the Utes could use heading into the offseason. As it stands, Utah’s nine-player recruiting class ranks 78th-nationally and is last in the Pac-12. Another four-star caliber recruit in Daniels would give the Utes only two, but other undecided players might take notice and join them at Utah.
