1. The Mike Leach Factor

There may be more successful coaches in terms of winning championships, winning percentages, X’s and O’s, etc. But there is not a more colorful coach in college football than Mike Leach. Leach displays a unique persona every time the camera is rolling or a hot microphone is somewhere to be found. His uniqueness was on full display during the introductory press conference for the Alamo Bowl with Iowa State coach Matt Campbell.

Leach has done a masterful job of turning around a historically dormant Washington State program into a yearly Pac-12 North contender, along with in-state rival Washington. Just like his days at Texas Tech, Leach has delivered some hilarious quotes and rants during his time in Pullman, most notable was his line to ESPN’s Neil Everett when asked what the scene was like following Washington State’s upset of USC last year in Pullman.
