With the 2018 season over with and the bowl streak snapped, it’s time for Florida State football to look toward 2019.

When Florida State head coach Willie Taggart arrived in Tallahassee, he was greeted with much fanfare. With promises of a more dangerous, up-tempo offense, Taggart reinvigorated a football program that had seemed drained of energy since its 2013 national championship.

The hype, however, did not translate to results on the field. The Noles simply did not look like themselves in 2018 — although some might argue they haven’t looked like themselves for a while now.

Either way, there’s a lot that needs fixing if the Noles hope to compete again — in the ACC, much less nationally. Here are the five most important things on every Seminole fan’s wish list for the 2019 season.

5. A bowl game

The Noles’ season came to an unceremonious end with a home blowout to the Gators, who they hadn’t lost to in five years. To make matters worse, the loss also snapped the Noles’ 36 year bowl streak, the longest in the nation.

The bright side?

Instead of preparing for the postseason, Taggart and company can focus on recruiting. This is especially important given the start of early signing period on Dec. 19.

So yes, while Florida State fans have every right to feel disappointed, they can take comfort in knowing that instead of preparing for whatever no-name bowl they might have been invited to, the Noles can now focus on getting ready for next season.

Which, if this staff intends to remain in Tallahassee, should probably end in a bowl appearance.
