2. An offensive line
In addition to his reputation as an offensive coach, Willie Taggart is known as an elite recruiter. This offseason, Taggart and company will need to hit the ground running. And perhaps no area is more important than the offensive line.
If you can’t block, you can’t win. Simple as that. And FSU’s offensive line got physically dominated this year. Just ask Deondre Francois, who spent most of the season on his butt.
Or take a look at the numbers. FSU’s offensive line featured three of the lowest-rated players in the country, making FSU’s blocking unit one of the worst — if not the worst — in the Power Five. We’re talking Rutgers and UTEP territory here, folks.
There is no way FSU can recruit and develop an elite offensive line by the start of next season. But if the Noles can just manage to roll out an above average offensive line — relying on recruiting, JUCO transfers, and fewer injuries — it will be heralded as a vast improvement in Tallahassee.
