Monken on his way out?

Once again, Coach Jeff Monken has come to a school where he completely turned around a struggling program. Prior to taking the job at Army West Point, Monken was the head coach at Georgia Southern. In his four years at Georgia Southern, the Eagles found themselves in the FCS Semifinals three times.

In Monken’s first two years with the Black Knights, he posted a record of 6-18. Since then, Army has gone 29-10 with three consecutive bowl game victories. Coach Monken has also taken the Black Knights to their first back-to-back seasons of more than 10 wins, as well as their very first eleven win season in school history.

With all of the turnover of coaching in college football, Coach Monken will be at the top of many school’s list. Although he is more than capable of coaching a Non-Triple Option offense, there has been some rumbling to bring the Triple Option to more FBS Schools. Do not be surprised if this was one of Jeff Monken’s last games coaching the Army Black Knights.
