4. Defensive Tackle, Tyler Davis

The interior defensive line is a huge need for the Tigers this offseason considering they lose three players in the two-deep at defensive tackle. Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence are two of the best at stopping the run and both of those guys are looking to go very early this season in the NFL Draft. Albert Huggins is also a senior and even though he didn’t start very often, he still served as a very talented option along the interior of the defensive line and played an important role in getting after the quarterback from the inside.

Tyler Davis comes in as the No. 7 defensive tackle and the No. 60 player overall according to ESPN’s Top 300 recruits. Davis committed and signed on Signing Day after a late interest change from Florida State. Landing Davis was a huge get for Clemson as he was expected by some to remain in his home state and attend Florida State.

Davis walks on campus at 6-foot-1 and 255 pounds, smaller than most would want a pure defensive tackle, but Clemson had great success with Grady Jarrett who was also undersized. Davis has great mobility and can follow a play as it progresses. He was one of the few pure defensive tackles in the 2019 class and proved in high school that he has pass rush capabilities with six sacks as a senior. Expect Davis to see second-team snaps throughout the season alongside underclassmen Xavier Thomas and KJ Henry.
