4. A true left tackle

The Miami Hurricanes have suffered the past three seasons with not having a true left tackle. In this era of college football the center position is the most important with the amount of line calls and interior penetration teams try in the late 2010’s. The left tackle though, or blind side protector, is still in the top two of important linemen.

Miami has struggled to find a really good blind side tackle. Kc McDermott played there some in 2016 and 2017 and Tyree St. Louis was forced to move from right to left tackle for 2018. St. Louis struggled at the position and the lack of development of key recruits has hurt Miami.

The ‘Canes signed Tommy Kennedy, an FCS graduate transfer from Butler. If Kennedy, along with transfer George Brown (LSU), Zalon’tae Hillery, and Kai-Leon Herbert can’t get on the field; Miami quarterbacks are in trouble once again. For ‘Canes fans, Richt relying on Kennedy is a testament to the lack of development at certain positions down in Coral Gables.
