Oregon Football: Justin Herbert makes right call to return to school
By Dana Becker
1. Return to get healthy, and stay healthy
Over his three-year career at Oregon, the only real knock on Justin Herbert has been his injuries. After playing eight games as a freshman and sophomore, Herbert suited up for 12 this year, with a bowl game on the horizon.
While that is a marked improvement over the first two seasons, he did battle injuries again this year. Herbert suffered a deep shoulder contusion that is not expected to force him to miss the Redbox Bowl vs. Michigan State, but any further injury to it could have caused him issues in regards to preparing and showing off for NFL scouts moving forward.
As long as Herbert can avoid injuring his shoulder any further, or suffering something else serious, he should be able to rest up and recover over the next few months before spring practices begin. And if he can’t it’s not like the Duck coaching staff really needs to see him battle others on the roster or coming in for the No. 1 position anyway.
