1. There’s a major question mark at quarterback

Losing Kenny Hill after last season looked to be a tough break for Gary Patterson and Co., and it turned out to be just that. The Horned Frogs leaned on Shawn Robinson to start the year and he played fairly well, outside of his eight interceptions, passing for over 1,300 yards and nine touchdowns with a 60 percent completion rate.

After he went down, it was up to Michael Collins to start under center. The sophomore also fared well, passing for 1,059 yards and six touchdowns with only two picks. He did complete just 56 percent of his passes and he wasn’t quite the runner Robinson was.

Robinson has since announced his transfer to Missouri, leaving a recovering Collins as the favorite to start under center for the Horned Frogs in 2019. Is this the right decision for Patterson or should he go the route of a talented four-star dual-threat in Max Duggan?

It’s clear that without an adequate starter, the offense sputters — like it did in the Cheez-It Bowl with Grayson Muehlstein.

Patterson has a big decision to make when the 2019 campaign approaches. Does he take a fresh approach with Duggan or go with the guy that went 2-2 as starter with the fourth game being one in which he only attempted six passes before he went down?
