West Virginia Football: 3 reasons Mountaineers will win Camping World Bowl
By Dana Becker
1. More big-game experiences to draw upon
For the most part, many of the stars on this West Virginia team that have remained with the program through December have experienced some big-time game environments.
The Mountaineers opened the year in one of the marquee matchups when they scored a victory in the Belk Kickoff Game over Tennessee, 40-14. They also earned a key road win over a ranked Texas Tech squad back in September, 42-34, and bested Texas in Austin, 42-41.
West Virginia’s last two games kept them from a major bowl game, but also served as good tests for the squad, as they fell to Oklahoma State in Stillwater, 45-41, and were bested by Oklahoma at home, 59-56.
All of that experience should help the veterans rally around whoever lines up under center to replace Will Grier and provide stability and leadership on the field and in the huddle.
