What other national title coaches are out there besides Urban Meyer?

If not Meyer, then, who would Notre Dame actually be able to land? Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban have built juggernauts and would have no reason to defect. Saban is from West Virginia and lacks any real draw to the Irish, while Swinney is definitively an Alabama man.

Les Miles, another former national champion at LSU, just returned to the sidelines at Kansas and isn’t likely to leave Lawrence before coaching a single game with the Jayhawks. Jimbo Fisher is locked in at Texas A&M, and Gene Chizik is unlikely to get any sort of look despite his BCS title on the resume. Philip Fulmer and Lloyd Carr are long removed from the sideline, and that’s about it in terms of national title coaches.

If they’re getting rid of a guy like Kelly, they would only really be able to justify it if they were able to land a head coach with an even better resume than the guy they would be ditching. And it is hard to see any coach with a national title already on his resume leaving his present situation for the project of trying to bring a title back to the land of Touchdown Jesus.
