Texas A&M Football: 5 reasons Aggies will beat NC State in Gator Bowl
By Shelbie Warr
2. The Aggie defense has every ability to shut down NC State.
We will start by saying this. For Texas A&M, losing Donovan Wilson and Otaro Alaka is a big deal. Both are senior leaders that wouldn’t trade their time at Texas A&M University for anything. I can promise you that missing the bowl game is not something that either is happy about, despite it allowing them more time to focus and prepare for an NFL future that both have the ability to have.
However, it isn’t enough to really set this defense between a rock and a hard place so to speak. There are people ready to fill that hole that can and will step up. Is the Aggie secondary suspect already? Losing Donovan Wilson doesn’t bode well for them. But, that has nothing to do with stopping the run and that is what the Aggies are good at.
For NC State, they are 1-3 when their team rushes for less than 115 yards. I am not so sure that the likes of Daylon Mack, Kingsley Keke, Landis Durham and company will allow that many rush yards to the Wolfpack on New Year’s Eve. They have been known for shutting down the running game of opposing offenses and if they can do much of the same to NC State, they have every ability to win this game quickly and efficiently.
