2. Urban Meyer wins championships

Meyer has succeeded where Kelly has failed. The 4-seed in the inaugural Playoff with his third-string quarterback under center, Meyer’s Ohio State Buckey’s upended No.1 Alabama and then No. 2 Oregon to win the national championship, Meyer’s third.

Tack on an undefeated season with the Utes in 2004 and Buckeyes in 2012 and Meyer has had five seasons in which his team finished with the best record in its conference and tallied 10 or more regular season wins, Had Utah been in the Pac-12 in 2004 and not the Mountain West or Ohio State not been ineligible for the postseason in 2012, Meyer might have gotten a chance at two more national titles.

Kelly has appeared in two BCS/College Football Playoff games. Meyer has played in two separate Playoffs, won two BCS championships and been painstakingly close to a few more.  When Meyer falls short he’s winning 10+ games and a marquee bowl. When thing go well, and they frequently do with him at the helm, the reward is a national championship.
