Only the FCS and College Football Playoff national championship games remain, so let’s look back at the top 10 stories of the 2018 college football season.

With the conclusion of the final New Year’s Six games and other postseason exhibitions, the 2018 college football season is now ready to crown its two Division I champions. North Dakota State faces Eastern Washington in Frisco, Texas on January 5 for the FCS national championship. Two days later, Alabama and Clemson face one another in the College Football Playoff national championship for the third time in four years.

We already saw Valdosta State lay claim to the Division II national championship, while Mary Hardin-Baylor took down Mount Union for the Division III national title. With only two games remaining and the new calendar year upon us, now is as good a time as ever to look back at some of the biggest storylines of the 2018 season.

Records were set, surprises were sprung, and nature even had its say in the proceedings. Several prominent streaks finally came to an end over the course of the year.
