Clemson Football: 5 reasons Tigers are new college football dynasty
2. Young Talent and recruiting
Perhaps the scariest thing about this Clemson team who just won it all: A slew of their skill positions players are freshman and sophomores. Trevor Lawrence, the game’s offensive MVP is only a true freshman. Clemson running back Travis Etienne Jr., is only a sophomore and rushed for nearly 1,600 yards in 2018. Justyn Ross, who hauled in 160 receiving yards, is only a true freshman and is complimented by sophomore receiver Tee Higgins.
In addition to the talent Clemson has already on-campus, they’re killing it on the recruiting trail as well. The Tigers have the sixth-recruiting class for the 2019 cycle as of now and already have the seventh-ranked class for the 2020 recruiting cycle. Some notable recruits in the 2019 class are Andrew Booth, a five-star cornerback from Lawrenceville, Ga., and five-star wide receiver Frank Ladson from Homestead, Fla.
Clemson has their studs, but have had their underlooked prospects that have shone brightly in the past, former linebacker Ben Boulware is the most notable one, who was the heart and soul of the 2016 national championship team. The Tigers talent level the next couple of years is going to be a nuclear absurdity.
