1. Dabo isn’t going anywhere

It’s obvious that Dabo Swinney loves Clemson and the chance of him leaving anytime in the near future is about as close to zero as you can possibly get. Swinney has built Clemson into a startup blue blood, similar to what Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson did at Miami in the 1980’s and 1990’s. He turned an above average ACC school into a perennial national championship contender and his made himself one of the best coaches in college football.

That doesn’t stop people spreading rumors about Swinney and other places, while the NFL hasn’t come calling (to our knowledge) there is one job everyone speculates Swinney will have to think about when it comes up.

Swinney was born and raised in Crimson Tide red and played for Gene Stallings in the early ’90s and was a receiver on Alabama’s 1992 national championship team. He even got his start in coaching at Alabama and remained on the staff until 2001, when he was fired with the rest of Mike DuBose’s staff.

Nick Saban isn’t getting any younger, and while a lot of people don’t see him retiring anytime soon, if he does do so, Alabama will definitely give Swinney a hard look. But, like I said, it’s not happening for a while and outside of that, Dabo is in it for the long haul and will continue to touch Howard’s Rock on Saturday’s in Death Valley.
