2. Chris Dunn’s 49-yard field goal in the Gator Bowl

If you have followed NC State football over the past few years, you are aware of how important a kicker is to its success.

When freshman Chris Dunn drilled a 49-yard field goal in the second quarter against Texas A&M, it was like the entire fanbase could finally relax when an NC State kicker was on the field. Dunn went a perfect 51-of-51 on extra points and 23-of-26 on field goals in 2018. He led the team in total points with 120, just edging Reggie Gallaspy II.

NC State faced severe kicking woes since Niklas Sade left NC State in 2014. NC State kickers had missed a plethora of big kicks, small kicks, short kicks and long kicks. Extra points were an adventure. It ended up costing them wins at Clemson and East Carolina in 2016.

Moving forward, NC State fans can be thoroughly comfortable when an Wolfpack kicker steps on the field.
